Summer camps are great places for bonding, get-together, unwinding and getting to know people that you want to be friends with. This is why camping is an essential activity that families, schools and friends should always be looking about when summer days are about to come.

However, for the first timers, there is always the lack of ideas on what to pack for summer camp. Especially for kids, who always depend from their parents for their necessary package, they are usually at lost what to bring for themselves once their teachers decide to spend their last days in school in a summer camp for kids.

Therefore, essential things to bring in a summer camp:

Medicines: If you have kids with you, medicines or first aid kit are a necessity and don’t go without any kinds of medication you can use for emergency cases. Especially if your camping site is known to be visited by bugs and mosquitoes, don’t forget to bring anti-mosquito lotion or better bring along a mosquito net.

Proper clothes: You and your kids should bring along thin and comfortable clothes for summer tracking. However, you must also bring with you few jackets because weather can abruptly change in camps. Calculate the days of your stay so that you will know the amount of clothes you will need. Don’t forget the socks, pajamas and gloves.

Flashlights: Most camping sites have their own source of power so light is usually not a problem. However, you may need flashlights or camping lamps in case brownouts occur. Or if you want to discover nature during the evening with the kids, flashlights are needed. In this case you must bring along extra batteries for emergency cases.

Pocket knives: These should be handled by adult or teens. Knives can save lives and can be so much functional during crisis.

Essential food. Don’t expect that there could be a store in your camping site so bringing your own food is a very sensible idea. You can also consider taking your own portable gas stove. Better, check with the camp management what you need to bring.

Tents: Some camps do have the cottages for lodging but not all camps have them and this you must check out. For kids, they can have their own small camps to make them enjoy camping in a real world.

The first step of the camping budget for camping is to get all the essential equipments along with the required accessories. In case you don’t have any of the equipment, and then this is the best time to look for sales on these items and also visit various sports stores.

You can track these equipments at a very cheap price on off season sales. So you really have to plan quite early to benefit from this advantage and give your family a surprise with these equipments. It’s better to borrow the tents from someone you know if your family is new to camping. In this way you can save on lot of expenses and find out whether camping is for you or not.

The other way to reduce cost of the family camping is by packing as much food as possible from home. Its best to take anything that is not perishable and that fits your vehicle.

In this way you will get to save quite a bit of money from the grocery stores during family camping holiday. Also one more advantage of packing everything in food is that everything is according to the choice of the family. In case you are taking a small child with you, carry lots of diapers and baby food and also other important baby items to avoid spending more at the stores.

You can shop at the camp location when you are on camping with the family. Most of the camp grounds cost almost the same, ranging form 8-16 dollars for one night which includes facilities like that of restroom etc.

When you stay on the campsite during family camping, make the best use of what is available to you. The cost of camping ground is small if we compare it with the cost of other vacation options.

If everything is planned the right way with proper care and thought, a budget family camping vacation will give all the fun of a resort holiday. It’s not always about money to have a good time if we decide with the true desire.

For a lot of people the heart of a camping trip is the fire, as everyone gathers and another day of adventure draws to a close. It is designed to make it easy to create that great piece of camping tradition. For experienced campers they will more than likely make their own ring by using a shovel to dig a pit and put stones at the edge. Before making any fire local regulations should be adhered to especially in area where forest fires are a dangerous hazard.

At its most basic, a camp fire ring is a circular piece of metal, which will confine the flames a fire to provide safety. These can also be found with much more elaborate designs sometimes including camping sayings about the old traditions of sitting around the old camp fire.

Others incorporate certain cooking facilities and other equipment is also designed to cook food by using the fire of a camp. Portable ones are very useful for those combining walking with camping, as they are very lightweight but still do the job intended. Even static campgrounds will provide rings; in this case, they are usually more heavy duty, often steel. Concrete is a good option for the yard, and will last for very many years as well as being very cheap to make.

One common mistake people make in the winter is eating snow. This isn’t a good thing to do because it takes a lot of energy for the body to transfer water from solid to liquid state. This means you can use up a lot of calories and this could end up in hypothermia. A good way to get water is to dig a hole in frozen streams and lakes that have running water under the ice. But remember, in most instances the water needs to be purified to protect you from bacterial contaminants

You can melt snow on a stove or fire to draw water out of it, but make sure the snow’s clean. If you have a bit of water in the bottom of a container you should heat it up and add the snow to it. On average, to get one quart of water you will need about 10 quarts of snow. The bonus is that clean snow doesn’t need any purification.

To keep the water from freezing, you should put it in a pot and cover it with a lid. Then place the pot in about a foot of snow. The snow is actually an insulator and it should keep the water from completely freezing over. If you carry a water bottle, make sure it has a wide opening at the end instead of just a small spout or hole, as these have a tendency of freezing up.

It is discouraging to walk into a scenic backcountry campsite only to find that others before you have left large, charred logs lying across the fire pit. These types of fires are not all that impressive or warm, plus what they leave behind is ugly and detracts from the aesthetics of the area. The key to a hot, bright and ethically clean campfire lies on the ground under your feet, even at campsites seemingly scavenged of all suitable wood. The reckless fire builder looks for the largest log in the forest. The responsible fire builder looks for small twigs and branches, which are much more abundant and typically overlooked by others.

Smart campfire building begins with the collection of small branches and twigs in three sizes: small, medium and large. Be sure to collect only material already on the ground. Do not cut or break branches from standing or downed trees. The smallest branches and twigs should have a diameter similar to a pencil and be broken into 6″ lengths. These will be used to build the initial pyramid. Branches in the medium category should have a diameter of approximately 1/2″ to 3/4″ and be broken into 8″ to 10″ lengths. Finally, large wood for our purposes is anything you can break by hand or foot. This typically includes branches and small logs up to approximately 1″ to 2″ in diameter. If you are packing an axe or saw, then you can go a little bigger. Try to keep the length of wood in the large category to around 12″. As you collect the wood for your campfire, create three piles. One pile for each size mentioned above. The amount of wood in the picture to the right will keep a campfire burning for approximately one hour.

Camping car is an indispensable tool for holiday cal support of this, a car that is prepared to travel long distances and move your house contents into it. In 2011 is indeed very special, because this year introduced a lot of car camping at the event ‘Japan Camping Car Show’. At Makuhari Messe, Chiba, Japan.

In general, the higher priced tents are made with stronger fabric, stronger poles, and stronger stitching. They will withstand higher winds and heavier rain. They will last longer. A good tent can last for many years. However, not everyone needs this strength and durability. The milder and drier the climate, and the closer to home you camp, the more likely that a less expensive tent will be a very good bargain for you. If you are just starting out in your family camping adventures, and don’t know if you will really like camping, then you might want to stick with the least expensive tents. Many families do. It is very likely that you will try your first trips when the weather is warm and dry, and will probably keep close to civilization until you gain some experience and decide whether you like camping or not. You can always upgrade to a better tent later, and keep your original budget tent for when conditions allow. Read our article for more info about choosing a camping tent, its size, features and cost.
