Year-round Activities at Utah Olympic Park

When you're vacationing in Deer Valley there are more than enough activities to participate in, but visiting Utah Olympic Park is a must. It's only five miles from the Deer Valley ski resort; this huge complex was where many of the 2002 Winter events took place. Though the Olympics are over, this park still offers loads of fun for the entire family whether it's winter or summer. Make sure you make this a stop on your Deer Valley vacation itinerary.

Utah Olympic Park is located in a attractive spot merely a few minutes from Deer Valley and includes something for people of all ages. During the winter months, individuals who are willing to pay the price can ride The Comet down the bobsled track. This intense bobsled ride goes up to 80 mph and exerts 5Gs on the riders. Once helmet-clad you travel down the track with 2 friends and a driver, complete the 3 mile distance in under a minute. This isn't for the faint of heart, but it is an incredible experience for the adventurous soul. During the summer months, The Comet is outfitted with wheels and travels down a concrete track. The ride is not quite as extreme but it's fun and less costly. Other rides that are available for the adventurous summer visitor include 2 zip lines where you can zip high above the scenery at speeds up to fifty mph and the Quicksilver alpine slide. The alpine slide is pretty new to the park and offers fun for children of all ages although the younger ones must be accompanied by an adult.
For those who feel no need for speed, there are plenty of activities that do not require a harness. Located just a few paces from the parking area is the Joe Quinney Winter Sports Center which houses two museums. One gives tourists a nostalgic look at ski history and the 2002 Olympic Museum showcases memorabilia from the olympic games.

Guests are also able to take a guided or self-guided tour of the park to see its facilities. In addition to the bobsled track, there are six Nordic ski jumps and jumps for freestyle aerials. In the summer you can see freestyle aerialists practicing their tricks and flips as they fly off a ski jump and plunge into a 750,000-gallon-pool. This pool is open during the summer to permit freestyle jumpers to improve their skiing tricks.

Whether you are interested in experiencing a piece of Olympic history, careening down the bobsled track at incredible speeds, or merely enjoying the fine scenery; Utah Olympic Park has something for everyone. Package deals can be purchased for individuals who desire to participate in a combination of offered activities.
